Next Meeting: Monday January 28th

After a little break for the holidays and due to inclement weather, we are restarting our meetings! Come see us! Our next meeting will be a special Table Topics Marathon: come practice your impromptu speaking skills, your elevator speech, your chit-chat skills. A Table Topics speech is just like any other speech, except it's very short (1 to 2 minutes): it should have an opening and a conclusion, key points, lack crutch words, include good eye contact with the audience and body language and hand gestures, etc.

Après une petite pause pour les fêtes de fin d’année et pour cause de mauvaise météo, nous allons recommencer nos réunions ! Venez nous voir ! Notre prochaine réunion sera un marathon de Table Topics : venez pratiquer vos compétences de conversation impromptues, votre discours d'ascenseur, vos compétences de bavardage. Un discours Table Topics est comme n’importe quel discours, sauf qu’il est très court (1 à 2 minutes) : il doit avoir une introduction et une conclusion, des points principaux, un manque d’hésitations, comprendre un bon contact visuel avec le public, le langage corporel et les gestes des mains, etc.

How to Join and Become a Charter Member

Are you interested in joining and becoming a member of this new Toastmasters club? Download, print and fill out the Charter Member Application and return it to me at our next meeting. Once we reach 20 applications, we will be able to charter the club officially with Toastmasters International. Only the first 20 members to join will have the benefit and privilege of being Charter Members, so don't delay!

November 12nd meeting: All Saints Day / Toussaint

Our theme for today's meeting was All Saints Day. Sophie was our Toastmaster and Ponni was our General Evaluator. Helene gave a speech about the history of Veterans Day on November 11th and how she celebrated with her husband by cooking food from the region of Alsace-Lorraine, such as quiche lorraine and flameküsche. Anusree was our Table Topics Master.

Le thème de notre réunion était la Toussaint. Sophie était notre Toastmaster et Ponni était notre Évaluateur Général. Helene a fait un discours sur l'histoire de la fête du 11 novembre et a expliqué comment elle a célébré avec son mari en cuisinant de la nourriture de la région d'Alsace-Lorraine, comme la quiche lorraine et la flameküsche. Anusree était notre Table Topics Master.
