Meeting: November 13th - Comic Books
Our meeting theme at our November 13th meeting was comic books. Sophie was the Toastmaster and Table Topics Master. Ann was the timer and Temple was the Listening Post. Ponni was the General Evaluator.
Anusree gave her Ice Breaker speech from the Innovative Planning Path on her memories from her summer vacation in India: camping, meeting new people, and eating street food. Militza evaluated Anusree's speech.
Rusty gave a speech from Level 1 of Innovative Planning Path on his favorite comic books characters and the life lessons he learned through reading comic books. Tishaun evaluated Rusty's speech.
Ann, Colette, Tishaun, Natenniel, Ponni, Anusree answered the Table Topics questions:
- Who is your favorite comic book hero and why?
- Compared to books, what are the advantages of comic books?
- Are comic books only for children? Why or why not?
- If you wrote a new comic book, what would it be about?
- What was your favorite comic book when you were young? Or today?
- What is the future of comic books?

Le thème de notre réunion du 13 novembre était les bandes dessinées. Sophie était notre Toastmaster et Table Topics Master. Ann était le chronométreur et Temple était le Poste d'Écoute. Ponni était l'Évaluateur Général.
Anusree a donné son premier discours "Briser la glace" du Path "Innovative Planning" sur ses souvenirs de ses vacances d'été en Inde: le camping, rencontrer des gens nouveaux, et manger la nourriture de rue. Militza a évalué le discours d'Anusree.
Rusty a donné un discours du niveau 1 du Path "Innovative Planning" sur ses personnages favoris de bandes dessinées et les leçons de vie qu'il a appris en lisant des bandes dessinées. Tishaun a évalué le discours de Rusty.
Ann, Colette, Tishaun, Natenniel, Ponni, Anusree ont répondu aux questions Table Topics :
- Qui est votre héros de bandes dessinées favori et pourquoi ?
- Comparé aux livres, quels sont les avantages des bandes dessinées ?
- Est-ce que les bandes dessinées sont seulement pour les enfants ? Pourquoi ou pourquoi pas ?
- Si vous deviez écrire une nouvelle bande dessinée, quel en serait le sujet ?
- Quelle était votre bande dessinée favorite quand vous étiez jeune ? Ou aujourd'hui ?
- Quel est le future des bandes dessinées.

Meeting: October 23rd
The meeting started on time. The officers were on time and ready to complete their task. Militza was our Toastmaster. We had to do one last change as the person responsible for the Timer assignment, sent its regrets. Another member fulfilled that task in his absence. The theme was “Why is it hard to learn a foreign language”.
Pat presented about the "jumelage" (twining) her church is doing with Haiti. She presented a PowerPoint highlighting the work her church has done in Haiti, the priests who came for a Summit on Haiti, the economy plans St Edwards church has put in place to help Haiti. The meeting continued with the words of the day like ‘Goule’. Linda completed the General Evaluator for the day, presented her comments regarding the meeting. Her constructive comments brought us to the end of the meeting with a congratulatory note from her.

La réunion a commencé à l'heure. Les dirigeants étaient à l'heure et prêts à faire leurs tâches. Militza était notre Toastmaster. Nous avons du faire un changement de dernière minute, parce que le chronométreur n'a pas pu venir. Un autre membre a rempli son rôle à sa place. Le thème de la réunion était "Pourquoi est-ce difficile d'apprendre une langue étrangère."
Pat a fait un discours sur le jumelage entre son église et Haiti. Elle a présenté un PowerPoint décrivant le travail qu'ont fait les membres de son église, les prêtres qui sont venus pour un sommet sur Haiti, les programmes économiques de St Edwards pour aider Haiti. La réunion a continué avec les mots du jour comme "apparition" en anglais et "goule" en français. Linda a été l'Évaluateur Général et a donné son compte-rendu sur la réunion. Ses commentaires constructifs ont fini la réunion avec une note de félicitations de sa part.

Meeting: October 9th
Our meeting theme tonight was "Things that are 130 years old." Happy 130th birthday to the Eiffel Tower, the Moulin Rouge, the Wall Street Journal, the Bahlsen Butter Leibnitz cookie, and the Michelin tire company.
Sophie was our Toastmaster. Steven gave the two words of the day: fair in English and tour in French. Ann spoke about the 13th century poet Rumi, for her Ice Breaker speech in the Visionary Communications path. Tatiana evaluated Ann's speech. Nirva spoke about the French language of the Francophone countries, as her 3rd speech in Level 1 of the Leadership Development path. Helene evaluated Nirva's speech.

September 25th - Charter Ceremony
Tonight was our Club Charter Ceremony! Sophie was our Toastmaster. Thank you to our charter members, our club sponsors and mentors, our District 66 Director Linda, our District 66 Club Growth Director Maggie, and our guests (George, Salwa, Kess, Cindy) who came to celebrate with us. We also inducted our Club Officers (Sophie, Ann, Pat, Helene, Militza and Rusty).
We also had an extended Table Topics session on the theme of "The Fun of Being Bilingual" led by our Table Topics Master Pat. Our timer was Helene. Our two Ah-Counters were Ponni and Liz. Our Word of the Day was Eva (with "clamant" in English and "unité" in French). Answers to the Table Topics questions were provided by: Ann, Ainslie, Liz, Nirva, Camellia, Militza, Eva, Linda, Salwa and Kess.
